She had this cackling, loud, expressive laugh. It was a laugh that made her throw her head back and as a result would make you start laughing. You just couldn’t help it. She had the most beautiful smile; never had braces, teeth straight, perfect and pearly white. To me, she was just perfect and so pretty. She was smart and eloquent, had the best manners, was a true lady…even when she was super pissed. She is the total embodiment of who I want to be…as a person, as a daughter, as a sister, as a wife and as a mother.
My mom passed away when I was 16. There aren’t many pictures of just her and I. I think maybe 5 total? They don’t exist for several reasons, I suppose…she worked, we probably didn’t think it was that important to just grab a picture, time, living…whatever, there just aren’t that many pictures of just the two of us. I try to make a conscious effort to take a picture…even if it’s just a selfie, with my kids – and truth be told, it’s not easy…time, I work, living life…we all know the reasons.
As mother’s day approaches, I extend an invitation to moms and their kids to visit the studio for a portrait. Nothing fancy…just a portrait of a mom and her kid – or kids – big kids, little kids. Something that will commemorate the day, the moment in time that we’re in, the relationship that you share. You’ll also get a free 8×10 print from your session.
I’m offering the session for one day only…Saturday, April 29. Below are the time slots I have available. When you email me to secure your spot, tell me why your mom is the best mom…I’d love to get to know her. For those of you that are the mom wanting to come in for a picture with your kid…ask your kid why they think you’re the best mom – you’ll be surprised at the answer they give you and I guarantee, it will make your day.

My mom and I…I think I was probably 3 or 4 in these pictures. I’m sure my sisters will chime in and confirm.
